Comfort food with terrific customer service in a cozy place? Sign me up, as we had a positive first visit to the Angry Goldfish! And yes, the name is an excellent play on words... There is plenty of parking, an outdoor deck that looks like a good option when it isn't so darn cold, and a fun interior loaded with signs and neon laced with humor, and we enjoyed the music throughout our stay. The interior mixes tables and booths with a full bar and many TVs. They'll take reservations on their website for parties of five or more or those with special needs. Coca-Cola products. It's just a great vibe here. Our server, Monte, rocked our entire visit. He was a fun guy with excellent people skills and a fantastic feel for his venue. I let him select my meal option, as the menu had so many intriguing options, and he nailed it: The Southside Famous Bowl ($15), a savory collection I loved. Skin on mashed potatoes with gravy, a plentiful scoop of sweet corn, and seasoned fried/crispy chicken. Oh my! Wow. My Way Better Half loved her Bruschetta Chicken Sandwich ($15), grilled chicken with Swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, basil, garlic Aioli, and Parmesan fries. Tip: get their signature Sriracha seasoned goldfish crackers as an appetizer for a buck. They're hot but so delicious. The Angry Goldfish has a pair of brand-new big fans.

Cool atmosphere, great service and food! When the weather is good the outdoor seating area is enjoyable as well.

I was in the Des Moines area for a work trip and stopped in with some coworkers. Dig the interior and it was a low key, quiet night with 90's hits playing. Waiter was good and made great suggestions. I ended up ordering the Chicken Chili Mac, but subbed fried chicken and added jalapeños based on his suggestion. Great choice! Everyone liked their food and we even ordered the Angry Goldfish. I'll be back when I'm in Des Moines--great place!

4.6* (out of 5) Food: 5* Atmosphere: 4* Value: 4* Service: 5* Would I go back / Recommend?: 5* (Definitely) Total check/person: $29 06/25/2024 Finally got the chance to return with my wife after our neighbors asked us to join them for dinner here. We both enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks and food during our visit. We started with a Mojito (see picture) and Old Fashioned (see picture) - both very good drinks. For our dinner, my wife opted for the Asian Peanut Butter & Jelly Burger (see picture), our neighbor had the Boursin Burger (see picture) and I went with the AG Burger (see picture). All of them were delicious, as were the french fries and tater tots. This place is definitely worth a stop and next time we'll try to go again on a Tuesday and remember their Burger & Pint special.

Oh my my! This place is darling! Better yet the food is amazing! This place has a great feel to it! When you're in the area check it out!

In Des Moines on a quick trip... I stopped in at the suggestion of the clerk at the motel. If you like roast beef it's a great place to eat. If you like pretzels and cheese dip, yes a great place to eat. Oh, and the Angry Goldfish are definitely a must on your first visit .

Very Nice, John Speech and Debate would be proud. Can't wait for next year. Let's go GoldFish

Such a fun small spot to visit right of the edge of downtown. It's darker inside & can be tricky to read the menu, but it adds to the laid back vibes. This visit we just did drinks with an appetizer of Spinach Artichoke Dip & it was so good. Not your average greasy dip, but more of a cream base & delicious! All food is very 'home cooked' style.

Our third visit whilenin town for activities with the pups...Kira races in an event not too far away. Got the Goldfish Tenderloin on this trip with the Parmesan Fries...the Mrs got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich yet again and we split a Mac&Cheese. All excellent once again!! The sandwiches looked a little "done" but they were both actually spot on! Tender and juicy sandwiches!!

I highly recommend the pot roast dinner. Soo delicious and was what I needed. I brought home leftovers, and it was still v good when I was home. This place is much cuter inside, nice decor, good seating. They have a patio outside for when the weather is nice. They have the good ranch here as well. We arrived on a Sunday morning, so they also had a brunch menu on hand. Parking in the back is kinda limited but there's other spaces to park nearby. Staff was friendly, I had no problems with anything. Everything on their menu sounded so good so I will definitely be back.
